Hello Carnoustie met up with Rhiannon of Kitchimama at Westhaven to hear more about her work on the Penguins, Oor Wullie and her part in Carnoostival this weekend 21st July in Carnoustie House Grounds.
Art and appreciation of it in all its guises has always been a part of Rhiannon’s family experience - her mother was a potter and her grandfather a portrait painter. This varied approach led Rhiannon to do a degree in Illustration at Brighton University.
Now living in Scotland with her family Rhiannon has extended her artistic talent – she is a trained tattoo artist and has developed skills in traditional painting techniques (egg tempera).
Rhiannon utilises all these influences within her work, she said “it’s been a gradual journey that I relish discovering as I go along”. Rhiannon likes to create bespoke pieces for people and describes her work as Magical Realism - we describe it as “awesome!”.
