Carnoustie Community Development Trust held an art competition for young people and invited art submissions from pupils at Carnoustie High School, Woodlands Primary School, Burnside Primary School and Carlogie Primary School.
The competition was given a theme of “Carnoustie - My Town, Its People” and was created to celebrate the summer of 2018 and Carnoustie as an Angus Town for Carnoustie’ s Residents.
Submissions included paintings; drawings, material collages, photographs and 2D computer images. Entries were on show at the Party Atmosphere shop on the corner of Station Road during the 147th Open Golf Championship 15-22nd July 2018.
The judges - Sheena Laurie; Elaine Miller and Rodger Brunton were keen to award prizes for art shown to have imagination, composition and technique.
The awards were donated by local businesses - Brunton Design; Little Feet Pitter Patter and Carnoustie Dental Care.
Prizes awarded to:
£75 to Jenna Donald S4 Carnoustie High School Senior School Winner
£75 to Sam Ogilvie S1 Carnoustie High School Junior School Winner
£300 to Carlogie Primary School for their prolific combined entries with special recognition for the fantastic poster designed and presented by 2A and 2B coordinated by their teacher Mrs Pamela O'Donnell.
Congratulations to the prize winners and a great big thank you to everyone that submitted art works... it was a difficult decision for the judges as the standard of entry this year was extremely high - well done everyone!
